Conditions We Treat

TMJ

Description

The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is a sliding hinge joint in our jaw between the side of our head (Temporal) and the lower part of our jaw (Mandible). It provides the necessary movements for eating, swallowing, talking and yawning. We use it everyday, so no wonder for time to time things can get painful and tight. The joint is made up of bones, ligaments, muscles, fascia and small disc between the joint so has many structures that can be injured. Problems with the TMJ can not just cause pain and tightness in the jaw but also can be the cause of headaches and earache.

At Physiotherapy Ltd after a thorough examination we can devise a treatment plan which may include a combination of Physiotherapy, Acupuncture and CranioSacral Therapy to help treat jaw pain so that you can get back to talking and eating without discomfort.
